Hi,
I've been having some issues with flickering ground textures at Boston. The type of flickering varies depending on the surface I'm travelling over, but it's only visible when moving. I took 4 videos of the problem and uploaded them to vimeo but it won't let me share them as I've only just registered. If you'd like to see them, perhaps you could change my profile setting to allow the sharing of URLs?
I bought Boston a while back and, after fiddling with graphics settings, gave up on fixing it. I recently had a similar problem at ORBX's ESSA however, which was fixed by a patch (something to do with a "normal map" that I didn't understand) so I thought I'd see if you might be able to help.
Thanks in advance,
FIlbert

Re: Flickering ground textures
What video card do you have,
Increased/turned on anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering?

Re: Flickering ground textures
Hi George,
I have a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. And yes, I have tried various anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering settings. Changing these affects the quality and smoothness of the flickering, but doesn’t remove it if that makes sense.

Re: Flickering ground textures
I saw your videos & it's the normal maps reacting badly with the overpowered landing/taxi light.
You can remove the normal maps(will look dull in daytime) or turn off the aircraft nose lights. They might be editable somewhere so you can reduce the intensity. I find most of them overpowered as devs get used to dynamic lighting.

Re: Flickering ground textures
Thanks for the suggestions. This flickering doesn't only happen with one aircraft though - it is apparent in the FSL A320, and in the PMDG 747 & 737s. Doesn't that suggest it's not just down to lights which are too bright? I don't get it at any other airports either.
Happy to try removing the normal map. How would I do that?
