Vertical Waves issue
Vertical Waves issue
Landed at Boston and bar the odd drop in fps it's looking good, except whenever I look towards the sea and I'm getting vertical waves in P3D 4.2, only place I've ever seen this...
Water is set at Ultra and special effects both sliders high, if I turn both sliders for special effects down to low then the wave effect doesnt happen within P3D.... seems like some sort of elevation issue with the FT scenery here.

Re: Vertical Waves issue
THose snow drifts I think. You can turn them off in the config tool.
The elevation issues are caused by Aerosofts Boston.

Re: Vertical Waves issue
Hi,
Snow drifts were all deactivated and I don't have the Aerosoft Boston scenery. The waves were the P3D default waves but turned vertical for some reason around the airfield perimeter and nowhere else?

Re: Vertical Waves issue
Try increasing your mesh resolution to 10, 5 or 2m.cptryan91 wrote:Hi,

Re: Vertical Waves issue
The mesh is at 5m, I've played around with it and something with your scenery boundary and water on ultra isn't liking it, if I reduce the water below ultra then it's fine... really odd.
Those seawalls are very fragile & have to work with various mesh resolutions.
The waves I don't have here. I think an Orbx package adds them. See if you can turn them off. They always looked goofy to me anyway.
Maybe interesting..

Re: Vertical Waves issue
Maybe I can chime in here. When I fly into KBOS from a distant airport, the behaviour of how the shoreline around the airport loads is different versus loading up the sim at KBOS and flying around. I have attached two pictures (one showing the issue flying in from a distant airport, the other showing what happens when I load up at KBOS). When I load up at KBOS, fly away and fly back, the shorelines load immediately and crisp. When I load up the sim at a distant airport and fly in to KBOS, the shorelines are slow to load and typically show some ruffling or irregularity. Kind of like the vertical waves.
My mesh resolution is at 2m, water at medium.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Vertical Waves issue
Hey Paul. That's a pretty common issue from FSX but I've not seen it for years. I just flew into Boston from Bradley & didn't see any problems.
Do you have some Mesh or global scenery installed?

Re: Vertical Waves issue
The addons I have installed that could alter mesh are UTX USA and FTX Vector. It's an odd one, and I remember this issue from the FSX days. I could load up at KBOS, slew 30 miles away, fly back, and the shorelines are nice and crisp. For some reason when I'm flying in from a distant airport that is not the case. I will troubleshoot a bit more and try and find the culprit.
