Which Afcad

Post by Ed Lin » Wed Nov 09, 2005 10:01 pm

Hi!

Please settle a little mystery for me. When I purchase addon airports such as Chicago Midway, I'm not sure which afcad I should use for the AI traffic. I'm happy with Ultimate Traffic which is what I use for AI traffic, flight plans, etc. However, should I disable the afcad for kmdw in Ultimate Traffic and use what came with the product or disable the afcad that came with the scenery addon  ?

Thanks.

Use FlyTampa's AFCADs, Ultimate Traffic doesn't include AFCADs for add-on airports.

Thanks for the response, but I'm not sure I get you. Ultimate Traffic installs a load of afcad2 bgl files in the ...addon/scenery directory for most of the airports in FS9. This includes a major airport like Midway. What I'm gathering though is that it may be on a case-by-case basis with regard to whether I use the Ultimate Traffic afcad or afcad that comes with the addon.

Perhaps I'm not understanding the purpose of the afcad file in the first place. It's clear in the link above what the afcad does as I've heard of conflicts with afcad files duped at the same airport.

Thanks.

AFCAD stands for Airport Facility Computer Assisted Design... each AFCAD file is for one airport and each airport should have only 1 AFCAD file. Find the AFCAD file for Ultimate Traffic and remove it, because the UT AFCAD files are made for the default scenery. Remove the UT KMDW (just place it in a folder outside the FS directory) and keep the FlyMidway AFCAD file.
Hope this helps,
Ken

UT's AFCAD our made for the default airports. You will find that your traffic increases when using the AFCAD made for the add-on. Your flight plans will still be the same, although I think it's time for UT to update them to a more current schedule. :?
