How about a Canadian Airport

Post by davidvoogd » Wed Sep 28, 2005 9:40 am

What are the chances of you guys doing a Canadian airport? I could think of several good candidates (CYYZ - Toronto / CYUL - Montreal / CYYC - Calgary to name a few).

I think the Tampa team have a lots to consider which ariport they're going to work on, that is no way for them to do a Calgary airport, I don't think there're too much people wanna fly over Calgary (other then Canadian!!) , it's all about maketing. Vancouver is good option, since some company already did the Toronto airport. But their main customer target still on the State. :P I'm from Edmonton, but I will never request them to make one, Edmonton airport sucks........

Actually I don't think so...I really like the YEG airport...and I was hoping for someone to do something with it.

Perhaps you should take a look at Vatsim to see the amount of people flying from these airports, it's fairly substantial.

Also they link together quite well with the American airports, and many American carriers fly from existing Fly Tampa airports to YYZ, YYC, YUL on scheduled routes so it would make a lot of sense if you ask me.

Just look at the popularity of the now outdated (and very framerate hungry) Simflyers CYYZ scenery and I'm sure you can see there is a market for it.

its funny you should mention canada, i was just looking for some canadian scenery and actually calgary in particular, i "fly" the lds 767 mainly in u.s.a and europe and thought how little scenery there is for canada for large jets, would be great to see vancouver as well, i'm sure there would be a great deal of interest!

..its not really Canada, but close enough - PANC !!

probably one of the most interesting airports in the world with a fantastic mix or PAX and Cargo.

PANC would make a very popular FS Scenery - to my knowledge it has NEVER been done before.

Cheers

That's ture, I owned couple of simflyer sceneries, and REALLY, they ate a lots framrates. Either Vancouver or Canada is fine for me, I'm Canadian so there's no doubt I want a nice Canadian airport. Any one downloaded the St. Mateen airport (freeware), the framerate problem is even worse. The screen keep lagging although my computer is so powerful.

True, but not on payware right? There's a freeware of YEG airport you can download. Do you think Fly Tampa will ever consider to make a tiny airport such as the YEG? They will......... only if Fly Tampa is a Canadian based company.

I wouldn't say that whether FT is Canada-based or not has any relevance to what airport is produced. FT has always stated that they do the airports that appeal to them...be that Canada, US, Europe, or the moon. :D
Personally I agree with the idea that a Canada airport scenery would be terrific- I love flying to all corners of North America, and have been on trips to Canada many times. Very beautiful country up there. :D

There is an excellent freeware scenery available for Winnipeg International Airport - CYWG available at Avsim.com and Flightsim.com. Look for it, you won't be disappointed by this freeware.

I don't think Calgary is a bad idea at all, and I'm not Canadian...spent many a lights in Calgary clubs though :) I don't think Vancouver would be a good choice, see I think the airports should be a few hours apart from each other. Having KSEA already, Calgary would be a great airport to fly too, then I can use PMDG's WestJet liveries.

Calgary would be amazing. You'd have KSEA nearby and if Simflyers ever gets done vancouver, you'd have a great couple of pairings between cities. If you decide to try CYYC i can get a lot of photos as I live here.

Personally, I'd love to see Fly Tampa tackle CYXY.

I think that YYC or YEG would be excellent choices. Between the two, I would lean towards YYC. I would also vouch for YUL. The scenery by Quebec Virtual Pilots was great but Trudeau (still Dorval to me) has changed dramatically with the new transborder and international piers.

Cheers !
