Is there a way to reduce VAS?

Post by PatrickM » Sat Dec 27, 2014 6:56 am

Hi there,
my question is what the title says.. Appreciate all help!
For now I get 800-900mb free VAS when landing in Copenhagen.
Happy new year! :)

I also hope that Toronto will not be a VAS monster.

As I do not have quick fixes here, all i can say is to move the sliders to the left and turn of AI stuff. Gradually moving the sliders to the right until you have a baseline of the memory usage and a happy medium of the graphics. Good Luck.
As for Toronto, I will not bother with the scenery. The Airport is very large with a lot of surrounding scenery. I cannot see the VAS being any less, as much as I really enjoy FlyTampa scenery, I wish them all the best.

I reduced the sizes of all my PMDG textures by 50% & I've not had a OOM since.

That's what I do. It saves also a lot of HDD :)

I had always an OOM during approach into EKCH with NGX (Never with Aerosoft Airbus). Since I selected the normal Autogen-option everything is fine in my system.

This is, quite possibly, the best solution to reduce VAS. Also remember, if you select the 'autogen vegetation' option in the Flytampa Scenery config tool, you will also be able to reduce tree density in Copenhagen area. Custom tree density is always 'fixed' which means some memory load regardless of autogen slider setting.

For those with FTXglobal, the 'autogen trees' option should be visually equal to our custom trees anyway.

Emilios, could you please give us the option to turn off the terminal interior like we can with the Toronto scenery to reduce the needed VAS?

In Copenhagen, internal modeling is not as extensive as in Toronto.
This option will give you approx. an extra 30 MB of memory when using 1024 texts and 35 MB of memory if 2048 texts. Hardly making any difference at all.

The most effective way is through autogen density (combined with autogen trees option in the scen.config.) and LOD radius currently.

You could turn the city off by renaming "Copenhagen_city.bgl" to "Copenhagen_city.off"
located in FlyTampa-Copenhagen\scenery
