Simply amazing! But...

Post by Richterr » Sun Nov 02, 2014 11:15 am

Hey guys, thank you so much for this amazing scenery.. been waiting for this since I started playing 12 years ago (yes im from denmark and live in Ørestaden just a few miles off the airport) Cant explain enough how happy I am.

But as I feared takeoffs/landings is performed from the wrong runways, please dont take this as a complain because it's not, simply pointing it out and wondering if I can correct it myself or if you guys are gonna make an update on this?

When you've spent so much time at the airport and flown in/out of it so many times, its minor details as this that will annoy you :|

Thanks again, best regards Andreas. :)

What do you mean they're the wrong runways? Runway use is based on surface wind.

About rwy patterns at CPH
Runway in use: 22L/R (west winds)
Runway 22L is used for landings. Runway 22R is used for take-offs.

Runway in use: 04L/R (East winds)
Runway 04L is used for landings. Runway 04R is used for departures.

The scenery is correct for W winds, as these are the most common for the area. When winds change to E, FSX will simply revert the pattern and use exact opposite runways (04R landings; 04L departures)

is this what you mean?

I know it changes due to the wind, but as I see it right now departures are made from 04L instead of 04R with landings being on 04R instead of 04L. I've lived near the airport for like 15 years and i've never seen departures from 04L or the other way around unless 04R have been blocked or something like that

Unfortunately, the way FSX will handle the 'wind change' cannot be controlled.
Like I said, AFD airport files work correctly for W winds, which are most common (by 70% roughly) for the area.
When winds change to E, FSX reverts (total opposite) the W wind RWY patterns.

This leads to 04L depart; 04R landings (which should be the opposite in reality)

thanks :)

''solution is to use one separate AFD airport file that will work correctly for E winds. In that case, W winds will be opposite instead :)''

Hi

You need to afcads for that: one for 4L/R usage and another one for 22L/R usage. Then you close the sides of the runway you want. You can make crosswind system as well for runway 12/30 and you close the sides you want.

I made an actual flight just after the last post from Emil, in which I turned on real-life weather and that changed the runways into the actual ones so it works fine now :) Thanks for your suggestion tho!

Hej Richterr

I guess You have the departure runway ok (22R in this case) but the incomming traffic traffic land on the same runway im sure... ? 8) that is at least what happens in my copy of the scenery.

I EKCH you only sometimes land and depart on the same runway (very early in the morning) so for procedures to be as in real life planes should land at 22L.

Harpsi, if you have the solution of how to use duplicate AFX files, pls enlight us :D

Take Care

Guys should make two AFDs onw for E and one for W winds, and those should be easily selectable from the configurator. Just 2 cents ;)

If I use the default real-world weather from fsx they'll depart on either 22R/04R so i'll have to do that. If I leave normal weather or use REX weather engines real weather they'll either depart on 22L/04L..

Are you paying? :D @awf
