FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
Hi George,
Even though I uninstalled and reinstalled, the issue remains and I need your help to sort it out.
As shown in subject, the user plane dives below bridge level and re-emerges at the bridge end.
Having had a look at similar issues did not help so far, that's why I address to you.
The latest setup file includes update 1.1, does it ? As I used that.
Please note that this happens at both LGAV bridges and to both directions.
Thanks

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
Its most likely a duplicate afcad or missing ZGAV file.
Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
[Its most likely a duplicate afcad]
I checked with scanAFD and was not found any duplicate AFCAD neither of LGAV nor globally.
[missing ZGAV file]
ZGAV has been always there.
Any other place to look at ?

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
Try moving Athens to the top of the scenery library.
Set vertex21 in the fs9.cfg. The installer should have an option to do that.
Have you replaced the afcad or edited it?

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
Vertex 21 had already been set accordingly.
Do you mean to place LGAV at the last position in scenery.cfg or at #1 ?
Of course I have edited the AFCAD. In my previous installation (XP SP3 too)
it worked like a charm. Besides, the AFCAD coming with the installer has very
little in common with the real LGAV airport facilities. I know it very well, as
I worked in the real airport almost from from day-one of it.

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
I placed LGAV first right after Addon Scenery with no luck.
I moved it at last position of scenery.cfg with no luck too.
Do you mean that every time I reinstall LGAV, I need to rework (edit)
from the very beginning the AFCAD ?

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
I mean at the top of the list.
You need to edit our AFCAD & not mess with the apron surfaces. No need to touch it again after that.
The afcad parking positions were created using reference photos available to us at the time of development (2011)
Try the original AFCAD & I bet the bridges work fine.

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
George,
What I edited in AFCAD (with ADE) was only the parking airline codes, a few apron paths at the Main Terminal, added
some new parking positions and changed some frequencies. In other words, didn't touch or change any surface.
Besides, the airport facilities are timely changed, thus we cannot have the 2011 AFCAD with wrong airline codes until the end of times.
However, remaking of the original AFCAD remains, as I see, the only option and this is more than an
inconvenience.

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
If you've removed the aprons from the afcad, the bridges won't work anymore.
I can't think what else it would be. A mesh might cause problems but I really doubt it.
I presume it used to work? Just reverse whatever you did. Or find another AFCAD. There aren't many gates, so re-editing the parking codes won't take you very long if that's important to you.

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
No luck George.
Uninstalled, reinstalled, tried with original AFCAD, but still did not work.
With 3D bridges unchecked during installation works with my AFCAD too.
Thus an issue with 3D bridges is obvious.
And I say again. I did not remove or touch aprons.

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
I doubt there's anything wrong with the bridges or I'd have heard about it sooner. Either that or there are only two fs9 users left
I don't have fs9 installed at the moment, so I can't test it.
Did it used to work?

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
I installed FS9 & the bridges work fine.
I know that doesn't help you much but the bridges are working our end. These sorts of problems; 99% of the time are caused by a scenery conflict.

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
Thank you for installing FS9 because of my issue.
I see that you can't be of more help on this.
But, it seems not to be the only one with this.
I see even the "state of the art FSX" has the same problem
See, the platform environment keeps always changing with
numerous updates (MS, etc), thus the problems appear.
I "ll see what I myself can do to deal with it.
Unless you do something about it.

Re: FS9 - User plane submerges when passing bridge
What do you want me to do? I can't fix it because I don't know what you've done or installed.
Ultimate solution. Wipe FS9 & re-install fresh.
The 3d Bridges are a hack. FS wasn't designed to support them. We are lucky to have them & they do have some flaws. That's why there's an option in the installer for flat bridges.
Also try temporarily disabling Mesh or global scenery packages.
FS global etc. If you have any.
