Runway Use at KMDW

Post by Falcon307 » Tue Jul 19, 2005 3:23 pm

Is 13L/31R used for takeoffs and 13C/31C for landings?

With the FlyTampa! AF2 and 13C/31C closed for takeoffs, the Center runway is still used for both takeoffs and landings and 13L/31R is unused. This makes for a long wait when you get behind a SWA exodus.

I figure that 13L/31R is not used because it's so much shorter, so I'm thinking about making it longer in AF2 so it will be used.

Honestly, it's been ~8-10 months since I've flown into Midway, but unfortunately, that's the deal in real life. GA might use the other runways but Jet/IFR traffic is almost always 13/31C (or occasionally 4R/22L). Yes, it can take some time to get moving. Part of this in real life is just the traffic management for O'Hare. It get's the lion's share of the airspace so departures out of MDW are somewhat limited.

SWA pilot, any input?

I fooled the AF2 into letting us use 13L/31R, then looked at my takeoff distance of 4,200 feet and asked ATC for 31C. Didn't see any AI aircraft dragging their gear through roofs, but I've put the AF2 back so the airlines use only the center.

Most common used runways are 31C, 4R and 22L. 13C for landing is only used for necessity due to the proximity of ORD. Airlines only use these runways, GA the others. 22L for landing is also a 31C circle to 22L approach.

Thanks for the info. I plan to go back to KMDW with a Ted A320 out of KDEN, and I'll use this info.

Is that A320 your using for TED airlines the A320 PIC from Wilcopub? I'm just wondering. I feel that, that aircraft is bad for FS2004. It has alot of bugs for me.

Thanks,

Dave

No, I've been driving PSS aircraft since their beginning. Some day, I intend to fly the PMDG B73Gs, but there are still so many places to go with the Airbuses.
