Out of Memory Error - iFly 737
Re: Out of Memory Error - iFly 737
OK where do I locate this 4GB patch? Looked around the iFly posts and did not see it.

So far it appears that the installation of the 4GB patch fixed the problem. Thanks!!

Re: Out of Memory Error - iFly 737
Unfortunately, I thought I had the problem solved with installation of the 4GB patch, but I see that the old problem is back again. I was flying the iFly 737 into Tampa this evening, and again, about 13nm from the airport, the sim seemed to stutter, then stopped completely as a freeze frame. Eventually, the FS9 error message appeared indicating that I had run out of memory.
Again, I am not sure this is a FlyTampa scenery issue or a iFly 737 issue, or perhaps a combination of both. I do not see a ton of people reporting this problem, so I am curious as to what may be causing it on my machine. I have no problem adding additional memory or making hardware changes if necessary. I am just not sure where to start. Other aircraft seem to be ok when approaching KTPA, even though I notice some stuttering on approach.
Any ideas??
Thanks.
Kevin

He may be talking about making the FS aware of the fact you have more than 2 GB of RAM installed - FS2004 is not actually aware that computers can have +2GB of RAM, and so as soon as you use more than 2.0GB it will give you the OOM error.
You need to make FS9.exe aware of the extra RAM. So download this application: http://www.ntcore.com/exsuite.php , run it, open the FS9.exe file, click on file header, then the 'click here' at the bottom (next to characteristics)
Then you want to click on 'App can handle >2Gb address space'
This should make the FS aware of the extra ram, meaning it will use more memory to load extra textures etc.
Then save it and overwrite the old one.
Make a back up of fs9.cfg just in case.
This worked for me - before if I flew EDDH - LIPZ (With Aerosoft and ISD Project) and UT Europe, then flew to LEIB from LIPZ without restarting (turnover flight) and the Sim would crash near Nice, when I did this little 'patch' I got all the way to Ibiza easily.
You may (if using a 32Bit system) need to either upgrade to a 64 bit (this is more aware of extra RAM) or change some settings to make it aware.
