VHHX and AI traffic (and request for some lat/longs)

Post by heavy767 » Sun Jun 22, 2008 3:12 pm

First of all, THANK YOU (I guess this and every other praise on your version of Kai Tak has been stated already.)

Just got done uninstalling 9 Dragons. My question is: In order to get my WOAI traffic into your Kai Tak, should I leave the editing of the WOAI files for every airline that flies into VHHH just as I left them when I installed 9 Dragons (changed VHHH into VHHX in those files, that's all)? I just want to be ready; I don't want to miss a minute messing with AI files once it comes out. Also, will your Kai Tak be coded VHHX? I will spend all day today creating terminal procedures for VHHX for my LevelD FMC and I was wondering if anyone has the coordinates for the localizer antennae for both IHK (runway 31) and KL ("runway 13".) This will help me a lot.
Once again FT guys, whatever adjectives that convey a strong praise you come up with, they apply to you and your addicting attention to detail. You deserve them all. THANKS AGAIN! :D

It will be coded VHHX, so you can leave AI the way you have, or...

I will also be offering a pre-compiled traffic BGL for WoAI that will not require killing/redirecting the VHHH traffic. It really depends on how you want it. If you want both airports active revert the VHHH->VHHX change and wait to get our extra Traffic BGL, if you want the new VHHH closed leave things the way you have them.

Martin, do you always think of everything? Can we be more spoiled by you guys? I think not. THANKS!

Martin, one more thing: what would happen if I leave my WoAI files as they are (VHHH dead, VHHX gets VHHH traffic) and then use your compiled Traffic.BGL? I really don't care what happens to VHHH, I just want WoAI to go to/from VHHX. I just don't want to undo all those changes, but if I have to, I will. Thanks for your input.

I am in Vero Beach, if I drive across the state on S.R. 60 right now, would you sell me a copy for US$ 500.00 tonight?

Thanks a lot FT!!!

PS: If I use your traffic file, what will happen when new WoAI packages that fly to VHHH come out or old ones get new version? Will I have to compile those BGL files manually like with 9 Dragons?

Jim Vile can probably get you that info

Not a good idea, you would get way more traffic then Kai-Tak can handle and never find a empty parking spot. Modern schedules for VHHH by themselves are hard enough for Kai-Tak to handle.

The extra traffic BGL is a separate/special file, completely detached from WoAI installers/updates. Meaning that if for example a WoAI update for Cathay comes out, it will not affect the "special" Kai-Tak traffic.

On the downside, using both WoAI's current-schedules (that serve VHHH) plus our extra Kai-Tak traffic file, will result in increased traffic elsewhere around the world. Example: If in today's real world there is 1 BA flight EGLL-VHHH, upon adding our Traffic file there will be 1 additional BA flight EGLL-VHHX... in effect increasing traffic at EGLL as well.

In essence it boils down to:

1. How realistic you want Kai-Tak's traffic to be (1998 schedules against current VHHH schedules just redirected to VHHHX).

2. How much you care for traffic-realism at other airports around the world with service to HK.

Martin and Paavo,

Martin:

Thanks for all the info on my WoAI issue. I will re-download those WoAI packages that I sent to VHHX and reinstall them. This would re-direct the traffic to VHHH, correct?

Paavo:

How can I get a hold of Jim Vile?

Thank you for your help!

He puts his email at the end of the readme text, just search his name at avsim and do a zipdive on one of his files. I'm not posting it because of spam bots

Thought I'd post here instead of starting a new topic.

I was just about to start modifying some VHHH flightplans into VHHX, I got to the first one (using Traffic 2005) and as I changed it an error message came up stating: VHHX is not on the ICAO list therefore the change cannot occur.

My question is where in FS9 is the ICAO list located? Thanks in advance for any help received.

You guys may want to check out this AI package specifically developed for 9Dragons:

http://martinle3.ma.funpic.de/neu4/VHHX/Flugplaene.htm

This will give you AI as of 1998. Haven't tested it myself, but again, the same caveat mentioned above applies: if you use this AND existing WOAI and other Ai packages, you'll have duplicate AI at other airports.

Generally, World of Traffic is a helpful site for finding Ai traffic for obscure airlines: http://worldoftraffic.de.ki/

I'll just use Martin and Georges traffic.bgl file,as

1.)It's easy to use, with it being 1 bgl file, and with this way you get traffic at VHHH and VHHX.

2.)It may add traffic to other airports, but you can just pretend that they're a scheduled flight to somewhere other than VHHX.

The "special" traffic BGL for WoAI can be downloaded here:
www.flytampa.org/dwl/Traffic_WoA_VHHX_Special.bgl

File should be copied to:
FS/scenery/world/scenery/

This won't be part of the Kai-Tak package but a separate free download. Note this is not made by, endorsed or in any way tied to WoAI. It is nothing more then a flightplan file invoking WoAI at Kai-Tak. No copyrights claimed, feel free to use, decompile, modify, etc.

To get the most out of it the following WoAI packages should be installed:

Air China
Air France
Air Hong Kong
Air India
Air New Zealand
All Nippon Airways
British Airways
Cathay Pacific
Cargolux
China Airlines
China Eastern
China Southern
Dragonair
Emirates
Eva Airways
Federal Express
Gulf Air
Japan Airlines
KLM
Korean Air
Korean Air Cargo
Lufthansa
Malaysia Airlines
Martinair Cargo
Nippon Cargo Airlines
Northwest Airlines
Qantas Airways
Royal Brunei
Singapore Airlines
Thai Airways
United Airlines
United Parcel Service
Virgin Atlantic
