Compatibility With FranceVFR LOD10 'Whole of France' Mesh

Post by MartinHughes » Mon Jun 18, 2007 9:16 pm

Hi guys,

I have read that TNCM is not compatible with the St. Martin - St. Barth FranceVFR package, which is fine.

However, I was wondering if it is compatible with the "Whole of France" LOD 10 mesh that FranceVFR produces, which also includes the DOM islands? Can anyone enlighten me?

Does your package provide a mesh for the island, or just scenery and the airports? (just... ha! :D )

I am using FS9 by the way. FSX is some time off for me...

TNCM (and your other airports) look amazing. I recently flew into it on a friend's sim, and look forward to getting it (and no doubt some others!) myself when I get my system set up properly.

Best wishes,

Martin Hughes

Hi Martin,

You're question has already been answered here: viewtopic.php?t=2237&highlight=
(second page to be specific)

Thank you :) That'll teach me not to just register and post :D

I'm still a little confused (it's probably the rosé I had at lunch... ).

Quote from that thread:
In the directory
X:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\StMartin-StBarth\scenery

Keep only these files for TFFG airport :
AF2_TFFG.bgl
apt_gc.bgl
flt_TFFG.bgl
fvfr_fstrees.bgl
lib_stmstb.bgl
obj_TFFG.bgl

To keep AI traffic from Francevfr, keep these files :
trf_antilles.bgl
trf_antilles_ga.bgl

It's not mandatory to keep the previous two files, but there are also on Guadeloupe and Martinique. Keep at least the "trf_antilles_ga.bgl" to populate Grand-Case.

If you own the FranceVFR mesh, you have to remove from the Mesh FranceVFR (they get in conflict on the hill of St-Barth) :
msh_MF_smb_i_l9.bgl
msh_MF_smb_i_l10.bgl

You can also desactivate the FranceVFR geomodif from NAME/Scenery :
AP931250_FVFR_RP.bgl
FL931250_FVFR_EX.bgl
HP931250_FVFR_EX.bgl
And keep those from Flytampa.
Am I correct in thinking that only the text in red (my highlight, not part of the original post) is relevant to the 38m mesh.? The rest only applies if you have the St. Martin - St. Barth package?

Incidentally, I was thinking of getting that package as well - Is there any real benefit to getting the FranceVFR package, apart from TFFG? Is the mesh/photoscenery better?

Indeed one rose to much for lunch, still a bit dizzy.. :D

Look on the second page of that forum thread like a suggested above and more specific to my post and I'll quote:
I don't get the part about the FranceVFR France mesh. Does the 38m mesh of FranceVFR also include the French West Indies? Or did he mean something else?

Let us know,
Rob

UPDATE
I can confirm that both msh_MF_smb_i_l9.bgl and msh_MF_smb_i_l10.bgl are both files from the FranceVFR product "Mesh France 38m Relief de la France entière en 38 mètres (LOD10)" which included mesh of the d’Outre Mer Départements (so French West Indies)
So deactivate them by backing up or renaming to .bak

All the best,
Rob

PS except for TFFG there's no need for the FranceVFR package but I do recommend FranceVFR La Guadeluope and FranceVFR La Martinique. Grrreat stuff :)

Ah! The width of the page with those screenshots confused me... Sorry! There is indeed a page 2 :D

I am considering the whole of the FranceVFR packages - I fly in and around France a lot in the "real world" and love the scenery.

I have just started developing airports myself - starting with Nimes and then onto Avignon and other airports of the South West, which seem to have been studiously avoided thus far by developers!

TNCM is just one of "those" airports that you have to fly into in FS though! :D

Cheers,

Martin
