Shimmering fix effect

Post by jnr641802 » Sat Apr 21, 2007 4:17 am

Hi ,the shimmering fix worked great and shimmering is now negligible.

There is a side effect though on my pc.The runway and especially the apron now have a white powdery finish .I reinstalled the original complete package and it disappears again but of course the shimmering returns.

Sorry but I have not learnt how to post screenshots yet.

Has anyone else seen this effect after using the fix?

When using the "fix" (mip-mapped ground textures) your gfx-card's AF-slider and Mip-Map-Quality are the 2 settings to look into. Usually the higher the better.

Hey martin,
When you add the MIP are you doing it to a DXT-1 or a DXT-3 texture? Just curious,
Thanks in advance,

In the case of the ground textures they are all DXT3 format. Generally speaking however you cannot just change between DXT1 and DXT3 formats if you are looking at converting some sceneries' texture. If you find a texture in DXT1 format, there is often a good reason why it is in DXT1 and cannot be changed to DXT3 without causing rendering problems at run-time.
