FPS during approach to TNCM

Post by mikeP » Fri Apr 20, 2007 7:32 am

Im interested to know how much FPS are you guys getting during a 09 approach to TNCM ?

I want to purchase the scenery and although i do have a quite powerful machine ( e6600 @ 3.24 , 2gb of ram and x1900xt 512mb) it didnt quite handle the approach phase at KPDX (gave me like 12-15 fps which is unacceptable)

thanks.

George posted this at avsim.

We have a freeware airport availble here at Avsim...

TNCM runs at least twice as fast as Boston & looks 10 times better
So if Boston runs ok for you, you'll have no trouble with TNCM.

Hey Mike,
I run a very similar box with Dual 8800 GTX cards and I don't even look at the FPS around TNCM. It is so smooth you do not even worry about FPS you just fly the plane ;).

There are a lot of other factors to FPS though such as settings, AI, video card(s) etc...
You will not regret this entire package though, that is for sure!

All I can say is: Don´t worry about FPS at THIS scenery...!

never gave me any trouble on my system so far, which is by far not as good as yours...

The fps are superb. I just flew the full VOR DME 09 arrival and I love the boats moving around the arrival area as you come in. This gives the feeling you have entered a buzzing holiday resort area as you'd see in real life. The Visual approach itself went very smooth.

No FPS problems on my account and i got almost the same specs as you have, only i have the E6700 and 8800GTS.

Take a look at my thread further down in the TNCM section, named "My little contribution and thanks to Flytampa"

I had all graphics on full and recorded with fraps. and i flew the pmdg 747. unfortunately i had locked fraps at 30fps, but i could have gotten about 40-ish FPS if not more.

I can more or less guarantee that you will not be disappointed with this scenery :)

I would strongly recommend defragmenting the hard drive after installation. I use the O&O Defragment Software Complete/Name method which helps keep frame rates at 20+ (30 Frames Locked) no matter where I go.

I put this at the top of my collection, outstanding scenery.

System Specs:
Dell 8400 3.2 Ghz (Pentium 4 HT)
2gb Ram
NVIDIA 6800GT (256mb)

Gideon

What is your AI traffic slider set at ?
There is one PAI plane that eats about 15 fps at TNCM if you are using UT.
