How to get Add-to-P3D.cmd to work?

Post by ChuckO » Mon Jul 27, 2020 2:03 pm

Emilio -
Successfully installed FlyTampa KLAS in my P3D5 using the universal installer - it pointed itself to P3D5. Added itself to the scenery library and onfiguratior worked fine. Wanted to install in my P3D4 while I finish building out P3D5, so per installer suggestion, I copied the entire LasVegas folder to my C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\FlyTampa\ - it sits alongside my other FlyTampa P3D4 scenery (Boston, Dubai). Then used the start menu Run command, pointed it to the C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\FlyTampa\LasVegas folder and ran add-to-P3D.cmd. It seemed to execute OK, but when I started P3D4 it hadn't added anything to the P3D4 scenery library, and the FlyTampa-Configurator for P3D4 isn't seeing it. What am I doing wrong ? I can add the scenery manually, but if I do this the configurator doesn't work.

hey Chuck.
I would advise to re-install from the universal installer, pointing to P3Dv4 folder instead of v5 this time. Reason is because there are additional files which are required for the configurator to work, and you would also need to manually edit the 'Add-to-P3D.cmd' to point to the right folder.

If you prefer the manual route, here are the steps

Library
1. Copy LasVegas folder into P3Dv4\FlyTampa
2. Open the 'Add-to-P3D.cmd' in LasVegas folder with notepad and edit the path to read '"C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Prepar3D.exe"
3. Run the 'Add-to-P3D.cmd' to add the scenery into library

Configurator tool
1. Go to "Prepar3D v5\FlyTampa\scripts" and copy the "config_FT_KLAS.xml" over to ""Prepar3D v4\FlyTampa\scripts"
2. Copy the whole "Prepar3D v5\FlyTampa\images" folder into "Prepar3D v4\FlyTampa" and replace when asked

I went the manual route, and it worked perfectly.
If I have to do a reinstall, I'll know now to just run the installer again and point it to the other sim.
Many thanks for quick response.
