Athens 1.6 (FSX & Prepar3D V3)

Post by martin[flytampa] » Tue Nov 03, 2015 5:12 pm

Athens 1.6 (FSX & Prepar3D V3)

- Added P3Dv3 Installer support
- Added FT-Configurator Options
- Added high detail IK-Jetways
- Added animated Apron Traffic
- Added Floodlight Halo FX
- Improved 3D grass performance
- Added 3D People

Installation Notes:

- FSX & Prepar3D: If you have a previous version of these airports installed, you must remove the existing entry from the Scenery Library before installing the new version. Additionally you can delete the old files by removing /Addon Scenery/FlyTampa-Airport/. The new default Installation Folder for all airports is /FlyTampa/AirportName/.

- Prepar3d V2: These new versions will work with Prepar3D V2, however at the end of the installation you will see an error message which you can ignore. This error indicates that the new Scenery was not added to the Scenery Library and you have to add it by manually (Menu: World - Scenery Library)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please note that these new versions are only available as "Full-Installers" which need to be re-downloaded from the store they were originally purchased at. If you have trouble finding your original order emails or the download links have expired, please email us with your Name and Email used at the time of purchase, as well as the products you ordered. http://www.flytampa.org/contact.html

Just tried installing this latest version into P3Dv2.5 after first uninstalling the previous version but first of all for some weird reason the installation program automatically launched P3D without asking if that was something I wanted and not only that but it even launched P3D before the installation routine was finished resulting in various error messages about FSUIPC already running and corrupt configuration files.

Hmm...what's this?!

I guess what I experienced was related to what you say about P3Dv2 users should expect to receive an error message when the installation program tries adding the scenery to the library but apparently not able to.

In my case it wasn't just a single error message I could click away but I got various issues after installation with error messages about corrupt files, P3D trying to start automatically multiple times while the installation program was still running in the background etc. In the end I had to force the installation program to quit and then when I finally was able to launch P3D myself I received yet another error message saying the aircraft in the saved flight couldn't be loaded and that the default situation would be used instead.

Seriously guys...your scenery rocks as I've said in here before but releasing a payware product that won't be able to successfully install and informing customers they should expect error messages during the installation etc...this is not cool for a payware product and I really think you should go back to the drawing board and write an installation program that will perform without any issues. If you don't have the knowledge you need to ask someone for help because this really isn't OK IMHO.

I'm now off installing Copenhagen but this time lesson learned from installing this scenery I won't select any of the options during installation such as download and install the configurator and libraries, add the scenery to the library etc but will instead perform all these steps manually trying to avoid my P3D installation taking a hit from your faulty installers. I already noticed how the installation program for Copenhagen didn't even manage to find my P3Dv2 installation and at the same time the new version of Copenhagen is said to support not only P3Dv2 but even version 3 and it's not even able to find version 2...

Do it again and do it right.

Running fresh installation of P3Dv3 without any previous FlyTampa add-ons installed, the v1.6 installer can't find P3Dv3 installed and want me to add to scenery manually to it.

Image

The October 2015 Configurator & Libraries installation went without any issues so I'm guessing something do with the Athene installer.
Can anyone with P3Dv3 can confirm the installer working/not working?

Thanks,
Amos

Same issue as above. Win10, p3d v3 in default location (x86). Pointed installer to correct path and seems to be working good.

You just need to point the installer path to PROGRAMFILES(X86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D. Presuming you installed it in the default location.

Personally I like to install it into C:\P3D. I never liked all these scattered Microsoft folders.

Yep, to point it manually to the P3Dv3 folders works but maybe you guys should look into the installer as this is the only one who can't find the it automatically.

Found the error in the installer. It doesn't have any effect other then pre-filling the destination folder field tho, so manually selecting the P3D folder has the same result.
