No landing (runway) lights at night?

Post by hogans » Fri Sep 10, 2010 4:30 am

I just purchased a new download of your TNCM scenery for FSX and it appears that at night there are no landing (runway lights.)

Is this common or is there an issue with the copy of the scenery that I have?

Thanks for any assistance,

Hogans.

Do you see the PAPI lights?. The runway itself has edgelights only that should come on at night. There are however no center, touchdown or approach lights at TNCM.

If this isn't what you're getting, post a screenshot, maybe I can identify the problem.

The runway lights are barely visible, is there any way to make them brighter?

Its a design issue with FSX. The lights will always get rendered UNDER our ground polygons. We get around this nasty FSX bug by alphaing the runway edges a little bit.
Only way to fix it completely is to use default afcad/xml style ground.

See if you can find some brighter replacement runwaylight halos; that might help a little bit as your shot is dimmer than mine.

This is how it looks here. I believe these are FSX's default halo textures.

Then why do they work with FlyTampa if you fly at dawn?

And what's causing this (taxiway lights perfect, runway lights missing (but present at dawn), but hi speed exit lights are are like this (Christmas trees).
