TNCM New Ramp Layout

Post by Global Express » Fri Aug 06, 2010 5:14 pm

Hi Flytampa,

The old terminal at St Maarten has now been knocked down to create more ramp space. Please see the picture below:

Rough idea of stand layout...

Any chance of an update some time? If you need any certain pictures to make the update, let me know!

Thanks for your time reading this.

I was already being knocked down when I made the scenery years ago & there is a statement in the PDF manual about this. Highly unlikely that I will replace the old terminal with this ramp anytime soon.

Many thanks for your quick reply Martin - I appreciate it.

One question - Is it possible for us to delete a certain BGL file, that would just remove the old terminal?

In FSX no, in FS9 maybe, but then you're left with a black shadow area instead of a ramp.

Just removed the old terminal successfully in FS9.

Hopefully something can be done to get rid of the black spaces.

Sorry for digging up an oldie, but is this even being considered? (The removal of the old terminal?)

A while back ago, the Alpha India Groupe (AIG) updated FlyTampa's TNCM AFCAD. Here's what the readme says (I downloaded from Avsim roughly 3 yrs ago):
This is TNCM (St. Maarten - Princess Juliana) for the FS9 airport add-on from FlyTampa and was produced using

AFCAD by Lee Swordy. Princess Juliana is one of the most famous Caribbean destinations, with what has to be the most famous approach, coming in low over Maho beach. The airport sees a very wide range of traffic, from many small airliners (BN-2s and Twin Otters) to heavy widebodies (B747-400 and A340-300). There is also quite a high mix of general aviation traffic, from small light recips to Gulfstream V and Boeing Buisness Jets. All of these mixed into an airport which has one single runway and very limited parking space. On top of it all, the runway does not have a full length parallel taxiway, which results in aircraft having to backtaxi to get off.

1. Please keep in mind, FlyTampa's scenery was obsolete when it was released. The old terminal has been torn down now, and more ramp space has been built in its space. Obviously, I remained true to the scenery.

2. All taxiways and gates re-aligned so that aircraft follow the centerline without "pinching" turns, as well as park within the aloted space without penetrating the terminal or surrounding scenery.

3. Lots of General Aviation parking spots added to handle all the business jet traffic seen on weekends.

4. I've turned the ramp space just to the west of the "C" taxiway into overflow GA parking. Out of all the types that operate to TNCM, Gulfstreams are the only ones which overwhelm the airport, especially on the weekends. Now, you will see mostly corporate jets in this ramp, with the ocasional airliner, as in real life. The layout is not completely accurate, but it is a layout that allows the most aircraft to park without colliding.

That AIG AFCAD is just for FS9. Is there one for FSX?
