Hi everyone. I am pleased to announce that with the assistance of Catchman86 and some guidance from George at FlyTampa, we have completed a new Beta patch of FlySeattleFSX merge file for FSX and Orbx. You can download the patch with complete instructions at http://www.myflightsimblog.com. Please keep in mind that this is a BETA test file. Any feedback about performance and problems you experience would be greatly appreciated. You can either email me from the site email link or use the website forum to post questions and/or comments. We feel that this release will fill a huge gap in the FSX sim world. You will need an original copy of FlyTampa Seattle for FS2004 and of course, FSX. Limited test have been made with installation without the use of Orbx PNW Blue scenery, but it appears to work fine without Orbx as well. Enjoy!

However, you may be able to get it to work without OrbX (don't know, haven't tested). This is more or less a public beta so please comment in this post any suggestions or problems you see with the merge. Make sure you read the entire ReadMe file. :)
KSEA isn't for FSX. Just saying.

That would be the entire point of the merge.

Thanks for the info Anthony. I am not running ORBX PNW but will give it a try anyways. I have tried to do a few portovers but usually get tired of firing FSX up to check the work. Not long ago I tried the Dubai scenery and it almost works right off the bat except the ground textures bleed thru. I messed with it for a while and got tired of fiddling with it so I pretty much gave up.

I will try your port and see how it goes. I'm sure it still looks better than the default version of KSEA.

Looking forward to your thoughts and help! Eventually, I want to have a both this and a non-Orbx required version that I can upload to Avsim, etc. For now, I need people like yourself to beta test and tell what needs to be fixed.

If I can eventually get a copy of my FSX disks (they're in another state, long story...), I will be able to get the files off of there that I need to run some scenery design programs. My ultimate goal is to create my own custom ground textures that will allow users to get a better enjoyment of this incredible scenery in FSX. Who knows, with a little luck perhaps Martin or George can release it as an official update. However, I've never attempted anything close to that. So as far as feasibility goes, if I can learn to teach myself the steps or be shown the way by someone, I will do my best to make this happen. No promises. Sometimes I feel that we as flightsimmers reach a point in this hobby where we either have to learn something completely new or find another way to spend our free time. That's where I am right now.

Hi catchman,

Thanks for your work!

I got one "little but significant" problem with your Instructions.

In the "Install order" it says:

"3. Go to ORBX/FTX_NA/ and change FTX_NA_PNW05_SCENERY.bgl to .off"

I can't find a file called "FTX_NA_ONW05_SCENERY.BGL" - just a directory "FTX_NA_ONW05_SCENERY" that contains all the airports and some detail Scenery.
Any misspelling in your ReadMe or did I miss something :? ?

Happy landings

Thanks for the effort, but I must join the above post...

Can't get this to work... like the above post, I can't find the file described...
I too, would very much like a clarification...

Ah! This is exactly the sort of thing I've been looking for for ages, at least until somebody makes a native FSx KSEA, which I hope FT will do (seems likely, after reading these forums lately). Don't have PNW installed, since I'm in the process of reinstalling FSX from scratch, but once I have both installed in FSx again, I'll surely give it a shot.

Let me know, if you got this workaround to work!
I was very excited to read that it were possible to merge FlyTampa's excellent scenery into FSX... :D

Unfortunately I can't seem to get this to work...

Guys, sorry I haven't been able to reply. I've been "busy." Just sit tight and I should have a surprise out in the near future...

It's going in an interesting direction now. I am engaged with a partner who has graciously created a new photo-real background for all 5 seasons (hard winter included for the month of January). This will allow users to have a background that isn't made up of the FSX ground textures.

Right now we are engaged in balancing the height differences between FlyTampa and Orbx's products. This is no easy feat when you consider the drastic terrain changes that occur north of the airport and in other parts.
